Women in Leadership Series: Beyond Management: Leading with Influence & Purpose
Course Description:
Most managers are promoted for getting results—but lasting impact comes from how we lead people, not just manage work. Taught by Becky Estby, this interactive two-hour session explores the shift from managing tasks to leading with vision and influence. Using John Maxwell’s Five Levels of Leadership as a framework, participants will examine where they currently lead from, what it takes to elevate their impact, and how to inspire commitment through connection, integrity, and growth. Through reflection, discussion, and practical application, leaders will leave with clarity on how to move from compliance to commitment—empowering both themselves and those they lead.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this two-hour workshop, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between managing “in” the business and leading “on” the business.
- Explain the Five Levels of Leadership and identify their current leadership level.
- Recognize how influence—not position—creates trust, engagement, and results.
- Assess their leadership style and identify strengths and growth opportunities.
- Apply key leadership behaviors that develop others through modeling, mentoring, and empowerment.
- Commit to one specific action to strengthen their leadership influence immediately.
