Business Development Specialist
Position Summary: Business Development Specialist reports to the VP of Logistics & Customer Relations. The Business Development Specialist’s primary responsibility is to manage customer’s shipments via truck and exercise proper judgment with all details involved with the coordination of such. This will include the following:
*80% of the work week the Business Development Specialist will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying, securing & closing the deal with new customers.’
*20% of the work week will include phone calls, PR visits and relationship building with current customers.
Hours: Hours of Operation Monday through Friday. Some overnight travel will be required; this could be up to 4 nights per month as well as evening or weekend work.
Position Expectations (may include but not limited to):
- Accountable for providing GRAND CHAMPION Customer Service to everyone.
- Actively pursue and secure new accounts by prospecting and Champion calling on available lanes to quote.
- Build professional relationships & grow revenue with new and existing customers.
- Meet via phone or in person with Customer Service / Sales Team weekly to discuss goal setting and revenue strategies.
- Understand and sell WBE, DBE & WOSB certifications.
- Work closely with Business Service securing credit information on current and new customers.
- Maintain and keep track of customer historical sales records.
- Resolve customer concerns, develop solutions, and make recommendations to Team Leads and Management.
- Submit activity and results report, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual sales analyses.
- Mentoring of new team members and existing team members.
- Champion Calling Coaching with new Team Members.
- Weekly follow through with Customer Service/Sales Team on leads that are passed on to account managers and/or account representatives
- Must be able to conduct sales presentations to individual & groups. Keep contents up to date.
- Work closely with purchasing / supplies to determine sales material / packets & promotional item needs.
- Set up & attend / host trade shows. Up to 4 times a month.
- Ability to attend events after hours. More overnight travel upon leader’s request. Company car usage or mileage reimbursement will be supplied.
- Attend company meetings, educational classes, networking events, seminars and reviewing industry related publications.
- Must be a self-accountable individual driver to deliver RESULTS!
- Achieve and maintaining company and monthly goals.
- Other duties as directed by Team Leads, Manager & Owners.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*College degree or 2-4 years work experience, customer service training helpful
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
*Above average communication skills
*An understanding of the transportation/logistics industry, or desire to learn
*Self motivated & innovative – able to work with little supervision
*Able to multitask and prioritize task at hand
*Excellent Customer Service, phone skills, & computer skills
